Commercial Solar PV Project in Leek

Introduction

Nestled in the heart of the Staffordshire moorland Industrial Estate, our latest project came through a referral from a neighbouring business. From the outset, it was evident that our client was passionate about becoming more self-reliant on green energy. They had a clear vision: to maximise their roof space with solar modules.

Solution

To fulfil the client’s aspiration, we opted for one of the largest and most efficient solar modules available in the market: the JA Solar-545w module. JA Solar holds a global reputation for consistently exceeding generation predictions, making it an ideal choice for this project.

To harness the increased power generation, we integrated a Power Manager. This advanced system offers real-time data on exported, consumed, and imported power via an intuitive smart monitoring and performance platform. A snapshot from the Power Manager’s mobile application reveals the following data for today:

  • Generation: 56.8 kWh
  • Exported Power: 24 kWh
  • Imported Power: 17 kWh
  • Real-Time Generation: 9.17 KW
  • Power Consumption on Premises: 3.77 KW
  • Exported Power (Real-Time): 5.4 KW
  • Power Imported Today: Zero

Performance and Conclusion

Impressively, the installed Solar system caters to 60% of the total energy consumption of the premises. Despite the unpredictable weather patterns, especially during the recent Autumn season, the system’s performance has been commendable. Our initially cautious client is now a convert. Not only are they considering adjusting their operational hours to capitalise on solar generation, but they’re also mulling over the addition of a Battery system next year. The insightful data from the Power Manager will undoubtedly guide them in evaluating the potential benefits of this energy-saving solution.
